International Students

Requirements, I-20, and student visa guidance.

Admission Requirements

  • Application & FeeAEU application form & a non-refundable application fee, $100.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Statement of Christian Faith
  • One Recent Passport Photograph
  • Sealed Official Transcript & Diploma
  • I-20 Application & FeeAEU I-20 Application & a non-refundable international student service fee, $400.
  • Evidence of Financial Support$19,000/per year, additional $3,000 per dependent.
  • Health Insurance
  • PassportStudent & each dependent's copy, if applicable.

After Your Application Is Complete

Once AEU has determined that your application is complete and you are academically eligible, AEU will mail the Acceptance letter & a Form I-20 to enable you to apply for your student visa.

** AEU processing time: 7 days + shipping

What is a Form I-20 (COE)?

** AEU emails the draft I-20 for reviewing the information on the I-20 for accuracy.

How to Apply for a Student Visa

International students are required to have a valid visa in their passport to be allowed entry into the United States. For general information, check the U.S. Department of State website. (www.state.gov)

1. Receive I-20 from AEU

2. Pay the SEVIS Fee

(www.fmjfee.com) Print the receipt for your record.

3. Complete DS-160 & Pay

Complete the online Visa Application for all non-immigrants (form DS-160) & pay. **Print the confirmation page for the visa interview.

4. Schedule Visa Interview

Schedule the appointment & check the current wait times. **Apply as early as possible to avoid delays.

5. Attend Visa Interview

6. Receive Visa

In most cases, you'll find out if your visa is approved at the interview. Check the visa for accuracy: spelling of your name, visa type F-1.

Documents for the Visa Interview

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of travel to the U.S.)
  • Original I-20 (not a copy)
  • Acceptance Letter from AEU
  • DS-160 (confirmation page)
  • SEVIS Fee receipt
  • Proof of Funding (bank statements, award letters, etc.)
  • Any other documents listed on the consulate/US Embassy website

Interview Tips

  • Answer questions concisely and honestly.
  • Be aware that the consulate may also conduct a social media review.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for clarification if you don't understand something.
  • Always be respectful and courteous.

Visas for Dependents (F-2)

  • Legally married spouse; children under 21.
  • May apply with the F-1 or separately; will need their own documents and copies of the F-1 documents.

Arriving in the U.S.

  • You can enter the U.S. up to 30 days before the Program Start Date on the I-20.
  • Plan to enter at least 1 week before classes begin.
